Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation Phase One Subdivision
Client: Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation
Location: Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, Manitoba, Canada
Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, located 65 km west of Thompson, Manitoba, developed a new residential subdivision along Moody Drive to support community growth. The project required a servicing approach that accounted for the community’s remote northern location and the need for reliable, low maintenance infrastructure. JRCC was engaged to design the full municipal servicing package, including water distribution, sewer collection, residential roads, drainage, lot grading, and pedestrian walkways.
Phase One delivered 1,910 m of watermain, 1,834 m of gravity sewer piping, and 1,800 m of gravel roadway with associated drainage ditches. The work also included 1,575 m of granular sidewalk and complete water and sewer servicing to 77 residential lots. Fibre optic conduit, vault structures, and key components of the communication system were installed to support modern connectivity. Based on the number of serviced lots and planned housing density, the Phase One subdivision will accommodate approximately 410 residents.
This development provides the community with serviced land ready for new housing, improved transportation links, and upgraded utility infrastructure that supports long term growth and quality of life.
