Client: Naotkamegwanning First Nation

Location: Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Ontario, Canada

The main access road, Blue Mountain Drive, to Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Northwest Angle #33 First Nation, and Animakee Wa Zhing #37, which comprises Main drive and Northwest Angle Road, required significate rehabilitation to provide a safe and reliable transportation route to the three communities. The roadway had a surface treated pavement with a pavement condition rating (PCR) of 40 out of 100, which indicated a poor to fair road conditions. The roadway had frequent potholes and distortions with shoulders showing extensive overgrowth. Drainage was minimal to non-existent and the ditches were full of overgrown vegetation, which contributed to standing water.

JRCC was retained to provide engineering services for the design and construction administration for the repair and upgrade of the access road and associated drainage system. Works included approximately 3,840 m of road rehabilitation, 6,470 m of ditch regrading, 165 m of ditch outfall construction and 355 m of culverts were installed.

Substantial completion was granted in August 2022.
